Another week, another comp. This past weekend was time for us to get In The Zone, quite literally. We were at Zone Climbing, mentally in the zone to climb well, and got to the zone in a lot of those boulders. One top even had a CHALKD. sample.

<a href="https://www.instagram.com/zoneclimbpt/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">@zoneclimbpt</a> organised their first edition of In The Zone, and hosted 100+ climbers in a contest of 28 boulders that lead 12 climbers (6 guys, 6 girls) to the finals on Sunday. And what an event! Amazing people, amazing boulders, amazing food. What more can you ask for, really?

São Bloc 2025. Another weekend to remember. I can't wait to tell you about the finals, but we'll get to that in a moment.The whole event is a cool experience where you climb alongside 150+ climbers and get to share during the qualifier contest. From early morning climbers start to arrive and warm up and you can see the focus in their faces. Then comes 8 hours of climbing, that you can manage yourself to try and get the best 8 boulders possible, which make up your score.The next day comes the semifinals in the morning, and then we head off to the beach. What?When you hear <a href="https://www.thecrag.com/en/climbing/portugal/area/5332848507" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">Lavadores</a> and see <a href="https://www.instagram.com/marques99x/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">@marques99x</a> around, you know it's time to get a crashpad in the car and hope the rock is dry. And it was, and we climbed some cool lines, high boulders, and even had time for a swim.Then we head back to São Rock, for a giveaway moment, where some cool stuff was awarded to random participants. And then, 6pm comes.Now, imagine this: techno music, a light show, and 12 climbers lined up in front of a packed venue at São Rock, and a crowd eager to watch the finals of this not-so-old but already legendary comp. RATONAR wasn’t just a festival. It was a field test, a brand checkpoint, and a celebration of climbing culture in its purest form. We showed up with chalk, grip challenges, and stories to tell. And thanks to you, who made it all happen, we left with memories, a chalk slaps mural, and the kind of energy that's better absorbed when shared. It’s no news for anyone that was present but this comp season start has been especially amazing for us. Going Up Portugal 2025 marked our first appearance. This was our very first real-world test. Chalk in climbers' hands and on the wall. We gathered at The North Wall with some of the early believers to try the very first CHALKD samples. We received raw feedback, shared beta, and experienced a few unexpected sends. Oeiras Boulder Cup 2025. We weren't set to photograph this event, but Vasco came through for a quick shoot while visiting Lisbon, and, as always, absolutely smashed it. There’s this old legend that says the image of the Virgin appeared on these cliffs centuries ago, riding a donkey whose footprints are still marked in the rock near the Ermida da Memória.Kind of a wild thought to start the day with, but it fits the place. You feel that mix of history, sea, and stone everywhere.We got there early. Some people had even slept there the night before.Check-in was quick, and straight into it. Grip test with CHALKD. before breakfast had even settled.Then yoga with <a href="https://www.instagram.com/xico.rodrigues/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">@xico.rodrigues</a> for a good stretch and the right mindset, and off to Meio Mango. That descent wakes you up fast. You’re focused before you even get to chalk up.Down by the water, the view was unreal. Rock, water and chalk everywhere. We climbed, filmed, and talked with some of the people who first bolted the place. They told stories about how it all started, and you could feel the respect everyone has for this spot.Later, at Cova Mijona, the highliners took over. Three lines floating over the cliffs, one of them massive, like 150m long. People below watching, cheering, or just chilling. Then dinner, more than 200 of us sitting together, swapping stories, laughing, and celebrating some of the names who kept pushing Portuguese climbing forward this year.The next morning, some were already back on the wall. That calm and quiet focus. Some cool ascents happened, for example <a href="https://www.instagram.com/guimat_climb/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">@guimat.climb</a> sent Skunk (8a+). The man is on fire.We handed out 200 CHALKD. samples, leaving chalk across these hands and stories.Stories like that legend of the Virgin remind us that we too can leave our marks, not only on the rock but within the communities and landscapes that welcome us. As nature lovers and caretakers.Portuguese climbing is breathing well and inspiring us all.Chalk up.
