Adel Wu Imagination Fund Recipient — Multidisciplinary Artist

Artist statement

Hi! I'm Adel, and I've been a multidisciplinary artist my whole life, and have most recently been working as a software engineer. My work has ranged from traditional paintings and drawings to digital NFT collections, ceramics, handmade clay jewelry, comics, and even 3D models. My favorite mediums include watercolor, colored pencil, and ink! I commonly draw inspiration from my cultural background as a Chinese American as well as other traditional Japanese, Korean, and other Asian artworks/motifs. I love to do stylized realism portraiture, and incorporate nature, celestial, or mythological themes in my work. I've recently been experimenting more with abstract art, thinking about how to express myself fully through art, and how to establish myself as a more legitimate artist. My dream is to be able to impact the community and people through my art or other work, as well as organize events centered around spreading creative joy!
