The arrangement in this photo was put together very spontaneously, as I was trying hard to find an interesting composition for a still-life painting. The painting never happened because I was already satisfied with how the photo turned out. I thought it would be good for this exhibit theme because the impermanence of the aging bananas contrasts with the lasting fibers and tradition of oriental rug making. So, I thought, how beautifully unorganized this picture would be with the unusual combination of the two elements put together in the same composition like this.
