My project idea is to create street fashion project inspired by Nigerian Igbo motifs and Canada’s Multiculture. It is titled, “Create Your Culture.” It will explore new identity, belonging, and personal journeys. The items of the fashion line will be T-shirts, joggers, and hoodies.

I will make 50 pieces of each design. I will create the designs and patterns digitally, and the Imagination fund will help me pay for the fabric, printing, and shipping logistics that I need to make this a reality. I will also learn the entire process and the best practices along each process of the creation pipeline beyond design.

I have never done something like this before, so I see all the spaces for growth, however, I’m excited. It can be completed in 30 days! I hope that my project will have an artistic, communal, relatable, fun impact on the many immigrants, travellers, and communities who now call Toronto home.
