Our 30-day project is dedicated to creating a powerful and cinematic trailer for King Reign to The World Presents. This visually arresting and emotionally resonant trailer will combine archival footage, custom animations, and existing interviews with those closest to King Reign, showcasing his artistry, health challenges, and legacy. The trailer will serve as a critical promotional tool to secure further funding and build anticipation for the full documentary. To ensure the most effective use of the 30 days, we will break the project into key phases, each designed to strategically develop and deliver the core elements of the trailer:

Phase 1: (Days 1-5) Storyboard Development: Collaborate with the story editor, graphic designer and animator to map out key scenes and transitions. This includes planning how to integrate archival footage and the existing interview footage we’ve already captured, while determining where custom animations will add depth to the narrative. Footage Review: Conduct a detailed review of the interviews we have already filmed, as well as archival footage, identifying key moments that convey emotional depth and highlight King Reign’s personal journey and artistic contributions.

Phase 2: (Days 6-15)

Footage Selection: Finalize the selection of archival footage and existing interviews, focusing on scenes that highlight King Reign’s influence, his relationships with collaborators, and his struggle with health issues. This will be supplemented with performance footage and candid moments that capture his essence as an artist. Music Integration: Selection of the soundtrack from new music recorded to incorporate King Reign’s unreleased tracks, carefully selecting tracks that elevate the emotional tone of the footage and supports the key themes of artistry, health, and legacy.

Phase 3: (Days 16-25) Animation Creation: Working with the animator to design custom visuals that bring out the underlying themes of the documentary, from King Reign’s creative process to the health challenges faced by Black men in high-stress careers. These animations will add a layer of artistic interpretation to the existing footage. Editing: Combine the selected interview footage, archival content, and animations into a cohesive narrative. The edit will focus on pacing, transitions, and visual storytelling, ensuring the trailer is both engaging and emotionally impactful. Apply a cinematic color grade and sound mix to create a professional, polished trailer. Phase 4: (Days 26-30) Review & Refinement: Conduct internal reviews of the trailer to ensure the pacing and emotional tone align with the documentary’s overarching message. Make any necessary revisions to optimize the visual and narrative flow. Deliverables: Finalize the trailer and prepare all related promotional assets, including short teasers and press materials, for release to industry stakeholders and potential funders.

Why We Need Funding

The Imagination Fund will enable our team to focus fully on crafting this trailer over the 30-day period, allowing us to dedicate resources to storyboarding, post-production, sound design, and animation. This funding will help us ensure the trailer is not only visually compelling but also sets the stage for the full documentary, positioning it for further development and distribution opportunities.
