Nabra Nelson Photography — Laos: Hidden in Plain Sight

Artist statement

On a trip to Laos, I capture what may otherwise go unnoticed. There is much in Laotian history and culture that is under-noticed by the global community, like the CIA's Secret War which was fought quietly alongside the Vietnam War. A country that was meant to be neutral was the site of conflict from many countries. Both the beautiful and the terrible co-exist hidden in these landscapes. To look closely is to acknowledge, to remember, and to appreciate.
