plan & timeline

Born under the stars in none other than the colloquially known 'Rocket City', my penchant for exploring the unseen, unnoticed, and unheard has driven my artistic pursuits for as long as I can remember. Named Kayla, but Kay for short, my art is driven by a singular motive: to capture individual's stories in a singular colorful image.

Born under the stars in none other than the colloquially known 'Rocket City', my penchant for exploring the unseen, unnoticed, and unheard has driven my artistic pursuits for as long as I can remember. Now, my art has a singular motive: to capture individuals' stories in a singular colorful image.

Through a biographical essay series of Huntsville residents and accompanying collection of landscape photography and hand drawn portraits of our story-tellers, I strive to build community, enrich local story-telling, and pass on the history of our locals who have lived their own incredible and unique lives in the midst of the well-known history that unfolded around them.To read more about the timeline, budget, details, and plan for this project please visit the appropriate subheadings under 'my work'.

Born under the stars in none other than the colloquially known 'Rocket City', my penchant for exploring the unseen, unnoticed, and unheard has driven my artistic pursuits for as long as I can remember. Named Kayla, but Kay for short, my art is driven by a singular motive: to capture our stories in a singular colorful image. As a long time story teller, poet, artist, and photographer, I use multiple forms of media to tell stories. Capturing themes of unity, collectiveness, community, and the beauty of the everyday, my work pursues the encapsulation of the rich complexity of individuals and places through images of the seemingly mundane.Having cultivated a portfolio characterized by a combination of hand drawn pieces and photographs gathered over the past decade and across nearly forty countries, the true stories behind each of my works are more intricate than the brush strokes or shuttered lenses that captured them. Now, I strive to tell those stories in my own backyard.
