AngelMAde Creative Journey

My creative journey has led me across many manifestations of expression. My creative pursuit has been in harmony with the stories I have to tell, where my life takes me and the people I meet. The world can be a place of intrigue, glowing with possibility and simultaneously for others can be a place to escape from. Capturing duality and imagining life outside the current reality are the underlying feelings, of imagery, words, and objects I create. I am inspired by my ancestors, my Ecuadorian and Mexican culture, my childhood growing up along the Tijuana border, and my experiences navigating the world as a queer person. My spotlight projects are the "Mitad Palma Zine", Video project "R U 4 Reel" , and AngelMade Illustrated a portfolio of Illustrated work.

Mitad Palma Zine addresses the housing crisis in L.A.. The zine speaks on loss, poverty, and natural phenomena. It includes images, illustrations, and poetry recognizing that even in urban settings nature is all around us.

"R U 4 Reel" Is a video about love of life and the sacredness of time spent in joy. It is a playful experimental video with different forms of videography, 3D animation, and animated illustration.

AngelMade Illustrated is a portfolio of illustrations created using techniques like ball point pen, stamping, markers, colored pencil, and digital composting.

My journey has called me to develop an idea for a short film "There's Life Here". It is set in a near future along the L.A. river. The story follows two siblings who are raised by elders of a village and open market that forms on the L.A. river's concrete banks. The imagery for the story was heavily inspired by an image I took (pictured below) of geese and wild grass growing and thriving through the concrete. Witnessing this happening opened up an idea to me, that there is nature all around us asking to live and it will provide.

The Imagination Fund is a way to develop the project further and build the concept to its highest form of expression. I hope to use the fund toward videography, 3D animation, compositing and computer graphics, voice acting, and original music and essentially the time and resource to make these things possible.
