Vertical Hold, 2024

I’m proposing to make a book of photographs titled Home Video. This artist book will be a sequence of images I have been producing for the past year using a color video printer, a device that prints photographs from an analog video source like a VHS or video still camera. The publication will be a combination of photographs I have taken at estate sales (using the video still camera) and stills taken from home videos, finished on the color video printer. This book will attempt to capture an intimate space while excluding any people, recognizable landmarks, or subjects. The images describe private, ambiguous spaces and leave space for the viewer to project a narrative. The book will include an essay by Sarah Hotchkiss.

Colpa Press is the publishing practice and imprint of Luca Antonucci. Based in San Francisco, Colpa publishes books with artists as well as archival projects focused on local history and cultural ephemera. Colpa is dedicated to combining new and "obsolete" printing techniques to create unique publications and artist projects where the book is the primary work.
