As It's Always Been is a film photo series by Denise Opulencia, a self-described enjoyer of obsolete media formats, with images titled the moon is always there, guard chicken and what are temples for. It was entered in Playbook's 2025 Photo Competition, “Hidden in Plain Sight.”
Artist statement
All photos were taken on film. to show that in the end, every photo is uncovering of something once hidden, now made visible. Photons captured in cellulose, invisible to the naked eye, now illuminated in front of us.
