Artist statement

For a Puerto Rican residing in the bustle of the capital, a getaway to the southwest coast, specifically to the picturesque fishing village of Boquerón in Cabo Rojo, represents a revitalizing therapy. Boquerón, known for its vibrant daytime life, its rich gastronomy, and its festive atmosphere, reveals a completely different facet as dawn breaks. With the call for the Playbook Photo Competition 2025: Hidden in Plain Sight resonating in my mind, I found the answer in the silent transformation of this familiar place. Aware that Boquerón's crowded energy fades with the first light of day, I ventured to walk its streets and its boat area at 6:00 am, capturing the scene through the perspective of a 40mm lens. The reward was an immersion in an atmosphere of peace and quiet, where the golden light of dawn bathed the coastal landscape with an unexpected serenity.
