Someone There Somewhere (STS) is a staged photo series by Daliana Alvarado in which costume design and concealed faces put identity and anonymity in dialogue, leaving each viewer to complete the image with a personal narrative. It was entered in Playbook's 2025 Photo Competition, “Hidden in Plain Sight.”
Artist statement
In STS , identity and anonymity are in constant dialogue, mediated through costume design and photographic mise-en-scène. By concealing recognizable facial features, the characters invite viewers to engage with the images on a more subjective level—finding meaning in form, texture, and composition. Here, anonymity does not signal absence but possibility: the lack of a fixed identity opens space for personal projection, allowing each viewer to complete the image with their own narrative and emotional response.
