Artist statement
The #1 barrier to creative writing for students is the dreaded blank page and I have the perfect solution for this! Over the past decade, I have been working with non-profit organizations facilitating writing workshops in equity-deserving communities. Despite the best strategies and intentions, students will often struggle to get started. The Intergalactic Bestiary is a website that will transform these barriers into bridges. By pressing a random generator button, students will receive a character profile that includes various traits, motivations, and potential plot elements. This tool is designed to serve as a springboard for creative writing, encouraging students to build stories around their generated characters.
