My artistic practice is rooted in contemporary forms of dance, movement, and improvisation. In my movement and improvisation practice, I am influenced by my spirit, connection to plantita friends/herbal allies, and my ancestors. I am informed by my queer identity and longing to reconnect with the land. My work carefully curates a world for the viewer to step into. I am inspired by the environment around me and images of water and clay as well as mythology and folklore surrounding queer identity and relationships. I’m interested in how dance manifests itself outside of the stage, specifically with site specific work, film, and translating movement into digital art. Most of my recent short dances on film has been created spontaneously, being inspired by structures in my surroundings or the environment. My process stems from objects/structures that I can interact with and tactile surroundings— allowing a playful nature.
