Project Idea:My name is Tedra, also known as TT The Artist, and I am a film director, musician, designer, and visual artist. My work is driven by a passion for Black cinema and stories centered around BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and women’s experiences. Through my art, I aim to expand the visibility and representation of these often-underrepresented communities in mainstream entertainment. In 2018, I launched my women focused record label Club Queen Records. Club Queen Records is a Black woman-owned, independent, women-focused record label dedicated to amplifying the voices of women in the music industry. My label's mission is to push women’s voices to the forefront, particularly women of color who have been the unsung pioneers in hip hop, pop, dance, and R&B.With the grant from the Inspiration Fund I will dedicate 30 days to create my next audio-visual project titled Sexy Ladies The Sequel, the follow up to Sexy Ladies collaborative EP featuring myself the dance music trailblazer and Brooklyn's powerhouse, songwriter, and vocal siren She's Ryan.Format and MediumsSexy Ladies The Sequel, delivers an array of multimedia experiences for the senses and will focus on a 5 original songs that will be released with accompanying cover art, an unscripted comedy, experimental short film, visualizers integrating the use of AI generative image making, typography, and promotional social assets including photos and still images from these combined elements. This 5 song, cross-genre release merges the worlds of music, comedy, and culture into one unapologetically fierce statement of women empowerment. Sonically, the project focuses on blending musical genres: Electronic dance, hip hop, bass, house, and pop. Following the release of our original Sexy Ladies EP, we are turning up the volume not just on our beats but in our message. The unscripted, comedy, short musical film will stand out with its bold, kitschy, tongue-in-cheek approach and capture surreal moments from the minds of the Sexy Ladies intercut with candid, cinema verité unscripted storytelling. Through witty, sharp, and no-holds-barred dialogue, main characters TT The Artist and Ryan take center stage, reflecting on the challenges they faced as independent women in music—especially as women of color. They hilariously revisit the struggles of funding their first release with no budget, industry creepy men, body, image, and musical influences while celebrating their evolution as artists entering a new era of empowerment, growth, and "bad bitch" energy through their musical explorations ! Audiences will get the chance to be a "fly on the wall," and watch the creative process of Sexy Ladies The Sequel from start to finish.Project ImpactSexy Ladies The Sequel effortlessly blends entertainment with real-world insights into the music industry. It will spotlight the unfiltered experiences of women navigating an industry still plagued with obstacles, told through a comedic lens that is both relatable and refreshing. This sequel is not just a musical evolution, but a celebration of the confidence and creative liberation two fierce women now possess. This project is more than music...it's a movement. In this era of creative independence, myself and Ryan are reminding the world that you can laugh, thrive, and conquer, all while staying true to your authentic self. As the"Sexy Ladies" return, we will bring not just bangers but an infectious enthusiasm for making timeless art —on our own terms. How do you want to grow as a designer, artist and maker? How can the Inspiration Fund help you grow?My growth as a multi-hyphenate artist relies on my ability to experiment, explore, and the freedom to push the boundaries of my creative process. With this project, I aim to expand my filmmaking skills, grow my network, amplify my work, and build a stronger community around my work. As a full-time creative and entrepreneur, I am constantly seeking opportunities to fund my ideas and bring them to life independently without creative limitations. The Inspiration Fund would allow me to focus on my independent, artistic growth by providing the necessary resources to continue realizing my visions. With this support, I can take more creative risks, refine my craft, and explore new mediums and technologies that will elevate my work as a designer, artist, and maker. The fund will give me the freedom to focus on creativity without being hindered by financial constraints, enabling me to take my artistry to the next level.
