Hi! I'm Amanda Henderson.Owner and creative force behind Jewelust. For my creative journey, I’ve focused on storytelling through silver and gold art jewellery. My work blends sustainable craftsmanship and diverse representation, embracing every unique aspect of beauty. So far, I’ve launched various collections, including my "Ribbon" and "Flora" pieces. I’ve also led photoshoots celebrating diversity in race and body shape. I aim to create artistic, story-driven photoshoots where each participant becomes the hero of their narrative. By capturing each individual as a work of art, this will elevate traditional jewellery campaigns into something more meaningful, showing that beauty has no single form.<h3>💞 Community impact:</h3>Representation matters. This campaign will ripple across communities by showing people of all sizes, races, and abilities, inspiring confidence and shifting perceptions about beauty. Through a powerful online presence, the reach of this project will extend far beyond the photoshoot participants, encouraging others to see themselves as the subject of the story.<h3>🌷 Personal growth:</h3>This project will push my creative boundaries by allowing me to scale up and collaborate with professional photographers, stylists, and makeup artists, something I haven’t yet been able to achieve at this level. It’s an opportunity to refine my skills, grow my professional network, and take my jewellery brand to the next level.<h3>🎨 Quality and Feasibility:</h3>With my past experience managing smaller shoots and a clear plan in place, I am confident this project can be completed within 30 days of receiving funding. I already have contacts with photographers, makeup artists, and stylists, ensuring this campaign will be polished, professional, and impactful.

**High Level Budget**

For this project, I will expand my skills in photography, styling, and working with larger teams. I’ll learn how to better capture the essence of diverse beauty while collaborating with a broad range of people from my community. I’m excited to start conversations about inclusivity, representation, and empowerment, which will challenge me creatively and help improve my overall photography and styling abilities.My main inspiration is the Dove Real Beauty campaign, which focuses on body positivity and authentic representation. Locally, I’m inspired by full-figure models and body-positive fitness advocates in my community. These influences will guide the tone and inclusivity of my photoshoot, ensuring it’s grounded in real stories and everyday people.This project will focus on photography and video. The participants will model jewellery pieces I’ve designed, with each image carefully styled and shot to highlight their unique beauty and personality. Video clips will further emphasize their stories and experiences with self-confidence and representation.I want this project to help shift conversations around body image, ableness, and diversity in the fashion and jewellery industry. By sharing authentic, diverse images, I hope to influence how brands advertise and push for more inclusivity in media representation. I aim to inspire conversations that challenge traditional standards and bring positive change in representation across various industries.This project will allow me to grow by engaging with participants on a deeper level, learning from their stories, and applying this insight to my work. I hope to incorporate more inclusive designs and perspectives into my jewellery practice. By facilitating these conversations and fostering representation, I envision my work becoming a platform for positive change within my community and beyond. The Inspiration Fund will help me realize this ambitious goal. I have dreamed about doing a photoshoot like this but have never had the budget to fund it myself.

Why is creativity important to me?Standing out from the crowd and embracing creativity has always been at the heart of who I am. Growing up, I moved around a lot, and being the new girl often made me feel different. But instead of blending in, I found strength in embracing my uniqueness and creative quirks. This experience shaped my passion for creating original, artful jewellery that reflects individuality. I believe that creativity allows us to express our truest selves, and through my work, I aim to offer others that same confidence and empowerment.

My Project Proposal - Shifting the Narrative: The Power of Representation in Fashion and Jewellery

My dream photoshoot is inspired by a personal story rooted in the immigrant experience. My mom, who moved to Canada from Trinidad, once advised me not to "use models that look like her" if I wanted to succeed. This broke my heart and revealed the lasting impact of underrepresentation. With this photoshoot, I aim to celebrate diversity—showcasing all races, sizes, and abilities—and shift the narrative toward inclusivity. By uplifting every individual’s unique beauty, this project will not only challenge societal norms but also inspire real change in media representation.
