My proposal is to create and print an 8-page zine in which I will draw a scene that was described in a tabloid magazine article from 2004 that paints an exaggerated scenario in which a man is arrested at a restaurant called Tequila Sunrise. Upon arrest they find a bottles of Viagra in his pockets and that this alleged man was an “International Playboy” drug dealer from Colombia who had multiple properties in Miami and New York.

The article features names of people I know personally and wanted to use my own and skill and bird character to portray this absurd situation through comic form.

I have never used Risograph services myself for printing but have worked with a publisher in the past that did for the Sun and Sand Comic Anthology I was part of. I would use these services myself to print 3-color risograph zines to be distributed for free to people visiting art week Miami at the events I plan to be at. Every zine in the past I’ve made had been created and printed within a month, I have connections to people who can help such as @ksypress on instagram who can assist me with printing.

I would use the grants to properly pay the people whose services I will be using and as well as compensate my own labor in creating this zine. My own experience in print scene in Miami has made me aware of the ability to express ideas to other people and not always with the intent to sell to them.

Project Proposal

My body of work has consisted mainly of my bird character that I utilize in different mediums. I have a focus of Zines in which i express my ideas through humorous scenarios I have witnessed or read about. This character is a vehicle for my ideas and expressions of the phenomenons one can expect from living in South Florida.
