PODCAST &amp; CONVERSATIONAL EDITS

Some ideas don’t arrive with a production plan. They begin as quiet “what if” thoughts that stay in the back of my mind. AI allows me to visualise those questions before reality catches up. For me, it’s not a shortcut or automation tool - it’s a space to test imagination and expand visual boundaries.

It usually starts simple - sometimes just a clip, sometimes just an idea that feels worth trying. I drop it into the timeline without overthinking and let it build from there. Cuts change, timing shifts, sound comes in, things get removed, added back, and reshaped again. Most of it doesn't stay the way it started. Somewhere in that process, the edit begins to make sense on its own. I'm Siva - a Video Editor who works across cinematic storytelling, branded content, and social-first video. Some edits stay minimal, some turn cinematic, some move faster - built around how they need to feel and where they need to land. I don't follow a fixed way for it. I stay with it until it feels right when it plays.Currently looking for a full-time Video Editor role at an agency or digital-first creative team where that kind of thinking fits.

B-roll and social edits often feel more personal in their energy. Especially in food and lifestyle content, I try to translate the enjoyment of the moment into the edit itself. Music selection, audio placement and subtle typography choices become tools to shape that experience. The goal is to make the viewer sense the mood of the moment, rather than simply observe the visuals as content.

When I approach cinematic work, I don’t separate visuals from sound. I tend to treat audio design as an emotional layer that carries equal weight to the frame. Whether it’s a making video or a conceptual piece, my focus stays on how every element blends into a single immersive moment. The intention is not just to make footage look cinematic, but to make the viewer feel like they are inside the atmosphere of that frame.

Live performances carry an intensity that disappears the moment they end. Editing becomes a way of preserving that fleeting energy. Whether it’s capturing the atmosphere of a concert orre-imagining moments through actor mashups, my focus stays on translating performance into memory. These films are attempts to extend the life of moments that were never meant to last.

I’ve always believed audiences resist anything that feels like advertising. So I approach commercial edits as stories first, messaging later. If a viewer stays emotionally invested till the end, the brand naturally finds its place in memory. These projects explore how persuasion can exist quietly inside engaging visual narratives.

High-energy edits, for me, begin with pace rather than visuals. Speed becomes a language — shaping how cuts, sound design and rhythm interact. I often spend time understanding the concept first, but many creative decisions emerge instinctively during the edit itself. These projects explore how intensity can be structured in a way that feels controlled, engaging and emotionally charged rather than chaotic.

Motion graphics is an area I continue to explore with curiosity. While my primary focus remains on editing and storytelling, I integrate motion elements when they help strengthen cinematic flow or visual clarity. For me, this space is less about technical complexity and more about discovering how motion can support emotion within a frame.

Podcasts exist in a space where visuals are minimal but attention must remain steady. My role is not to over-design the frame, but to guide presence subtly. Through small pacing and framing decisions, the intention is to keep conversations visually alive without interrupting their natural rhythm.
