To Serve, With Love: The Legacy of Veronica Garcia

Script Complete? ✔

Despite my decisions to not follow my mother's career path as an early childhood educator or have any children of my own, writing is how I serve. The time I’ve spent over the last six years as a mentor in Big Brothers Big Sisters has brought my north star of remaining eternally curious and courageous into focus. These are the subtle, yet potentially pivotal reminders needed to cultivate a life of freedom and merriment, regardless of specific callings. In its many forms, writing enables me to humbly serve these reminders to all, but especially for children before adulthood convinces them otherwise.

A Humble Storyteller...

Project Budget & Timeline

Driven by a desire to overcome her challenging circumstances in Trinidad & Tobago, my mother migrated to New York and eventually formed a daycare, exposing me to the importance and delight of early childhood education. Thirty years later, she is still shaping the hearts and minds of our next generation at the tender age of eighty-one. The documentary short I created, "To Serve, With Love", is not just her story of being an early childhood provider and educator, but a reminder to be of service in all that we do.
