THE PROPOSALThe fine art world has always felt gate kept to artists without a formal education or extensive network; I want to throw an insane gallery party in SF, focused on emerging artists in the Bay Area who want to begin to exhibit and sell their artwork more seriously. It will focus on digitally created works (digital illustration, generative art, film, etc) to align with the Imagination Fund's guidelines, and works will be printed or projected for display in person. The funding will get rid of the financial barrier of being able to:

Rent out and support a physical space in the community (and also not need to charge for tickets)

Provide displaying artists a small stipend for printing and framing their work

Buy any supplies needed for the event (bites, displays, etc)

Market the event on social media

I'm based out of San Francisco, and there are a few community galleries I have in mind to partner with for the event:1. Strike-slip Gallery (https://www.strike-slipgallery.com/ ) - The goal of Strike-slip Gallery is to provide its artists with a platform to generate dialogue and deeper understanding around personal and cultural identities.2. Wave Collective Space (https://wavecollectivespace.com/ ) - At Wave Collective Space, we focus on supporting emerging, independent, local artists, creatives and makers.3. City Art Cooperative Gallery (https://www.cityartgallery.org/ ) - City Art allows for a space for quality artists who didn't have viable ways to show their art to be able to sell their work.As an artist, I'll challenge myself to make a large canvas piece that would normally be very outside of my comfort zone to show! I'll also get to learn and grow at organizing larger scale events in the community, getting to build relationships with both gallery owners and local artists. I will also encourage artists who sell works to donate a portion of their profits to a cause of their choosing.I really want to get to know the community by expanding outside my own network of creatives, which is where marketing will come into play. I want to use postering, different SF events email and social media account posts, as well as word of mouth to maximize the amount of people who can come, targeting 100-200 attendees with 10-20 showing artists. I'll work with the gallery and artists directly to figure out the best way to display everyone's art while making it an immersive experience.I hope the Imagination Fund can help turn my dreams into a reality!

Hi! I'm Adel, and I've been a multidisciplinary artist my whole life, and have most recently been working as a software engineer. My work has ranged from traditional paintings and drawings (@art_awu ) to digital NFT collections, ceramics, handmade clay jewelry (@madebyadel_), comics (@linebarf), and even 3D models. My favorite mediums include watercolor, colored pencil, and ink!I commonly draw inspiration from my cultural background as a Chinese American as well as other traditional Japanese, Korean, and other Asian artworks/motifs. I love to do stylized realism portraiture, and incorporate nature, celestial, or mythological themes in my work. I've recently been experimenting more with abstract art, thinking about how to express myself fully through art, and how to establish myself as a more legitimate artist. My dream is to be able to impact the community and people through my art or other work, as well as organize events centered around spreading creative joy! Please enjoy looking through my past work, as well as my proposal. I'd love any feedback, and if you'd like to chat with me, you can reach me at dlw8320@gmail.com.https://adelwu.github.io/
