In-Between is a photo series by Joaquin Opulencia about the commute, with scenes from tricycles, road trips, buses and trains, from Boracay and Nasugbu to Hong Kong, Tokyo and Richmond. It was entered in Playbook's 2025 Photo Competition, “Hidden in Plain Sight.”
Artist statement
My submission is called "In-Between" and is about commuting and how the momentary travel between places creates images that are removed from where you are and where you ought to be - instead lives in its own place - hidden in plain sight.
