Art Competition Official Rules

The Playbook Art Competition (“Contest”) is designed to unlock the creativity of eligible artists (”Artist”) from all around the world, inspiring the creation of an art form focused on themselves in another universe. This Contest is hosted by Playbook Digital Inc. (“Host”). By entering this Contest, you agree with our terms (”Official Rules”).  Please see here for a description of the goals of the competition.

1. Important dates

  • Entries open August 2, 2022
  • Entries close September 2, 2022
  • Winners announced September 15, 2022

Dates mentioned are 11:59 pm (Pacific Standard Time - PST).

2. Eligibility

To submit an entry, the Artist must be over 18 years old, and who is currently being creative in any field, from anywhere in the world (except for countries which are under US embargoes or sanctions; Playbook is a US-based company so it has to follow the rules around this).

Contest winners will be required to prove their identity using a standard form of identification (e.g. passport, drivers license) to the Host before prizes are distributed.

3. How to enter

To enter the Contest, the Artist must visit the Playbook Drop page and submit their work with a short description. The entry can be a single element or consist of multiple entries. Each entry will be reviewed by the Playbook team to make sure it follows the Content guidelines. Once approved, the entry will be posted on the #PlaybookCommunity page for public voting.

4. Submissions

Ownership and content 🗝

  • All art mediums are welcome 👐 (digital art, drawings, photographs, NFTs and mixed media).
  • All submissions must be high resolution images or videos of their own work,, which is three years old or less.
  • The Artist retains ownership of all ideas and materials/images uploaded to Playbook.
  • The Artist can only enter work that has been created by the Artist themselves or that they have the right or authority to enter and publish.
  • Fan Art is allowed. The Artist can submit work inspired by others. However, the Artist must attribute their work to the original entity.
  • All entries must be in English.

Deadline and rights 📌

  • Late entries will not be accepted (any submission after 11:59 pm (PST) on September 2, 2022).
  • Playbook reserves the right to remove any entry from the Contest for any reason and without notice.
  • Entries that do not meet the Contest requirements will be deleted. The Artist must adhere to these rules and individual competition requirements.

5. Judging and selection process

During the public voting period, voters will select their favorites across all entries (email verification required). Between the completion of public voting and September 15, three winners will be announced:

  • The entry with the highest number of votes during the voting period will be awarded with the 1st place prize.
  • The entry with the second highest number of votes during the voting period will be awarded with the 2nd place prize.
  • The entry with the third highest number of votes during the voting period will be awarded with the 3rd place prize.

6. Notification of Winners

An Artist can only win one prize, regardless of how many entries are submitted.

The Artist is responsible for entering their correct email address at the time of submission and prizes may be forfeited if the Artist cannot be contacted or their identity cannot be verified.

All winners will be notified by September 15, 2022 (or as soon as practical thereafter). Winners will have three weeks in which to claim their prizes. If a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, the prize will be given to the Artist that has the next highest number of votes.

7. The Prize

  • First place (1st): $3,000 USD
  • Second place (2nd): $2,000 USD
  • Third place (3rd): $1,000 USD

Prizes are non-transferable and must be accepted as awarded. No substitutions may be made. The winners are fully responsible for ensuring that they comply with all the applicable tax laws and filing requirements. If a winner fails to comply with such laws, the prize may be forfeited and Playbook may, in its sole discretion, select an alternate winner.

8. Intellectual Property Rights

As between Playbook and the Artist, the Artist retains ownership of all intellectual and industrial property rights (including moral rights) in and to the art work. As a condition of entering the Contest, the Artist agrees to participate in any media or promotional activity resulting from the Contest and agrees and consents to use of their name and/or likeness by Playbook, before, during the Contest.

The Winners of the Contest grants Playbook a license to use, modify, publish, create a derivative work from, and publicly display the art, including display on the Playbook website, during and/or after Contest.

Playbook retains all rights in its services and entry into the Contest. This will in no case serve to transfer any Playbook intellectual property rights to the Artist.

9. Right to Cancel, Modify and Disqualify

If for any reason the Contest does not occur as planned, including but not limited to, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, Playbook reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.
