Working with video

Learn how to scrub video frame by frame, find the exact moment inside a clip with scene insights, and search your footage by what's said in it.

Playbook treats video as more than a single file. Every clip streams smoothly in the browser, breaks down into searchable moments, and, on higher plans, has its spoken words transcribed, so a long video becomes something you can actually navigate and search.

Scrub video frame by frame

Open any video to launch the player. Playbook streams an optimized version so playback stays smooth, and you can scrub the timeline to move through it, with a thumbnail preview on hover for frame-accurate seeking. Use the quality menu to pin a resolution or leave it on Auto, and the CC button to toggle captions when a clip has them.

Find the moment with scene insights

Playbook automatically splits each video into individual shots and AI-tags them, so you can search for the exact moment inside a long clip instead of scrubbing timelines. Run an AI Search with a natural-language query like "golden hour drone shot," and matching moments surface right alongside your image results. See Search & discovery for more on AI Search.

Search videos by what's said

Playbook can transcribe the audio in your videos automatically. The transcript shows up as captions in the player and, best of all, becomes searchable, so typing a phrase someone said on camera returns that video. It is great for interviews, testimonials, and webinars where the useful line is buried mid-clip.

Good to know

  • Processing takes a moment. After you upload a video, scene insights and transcripts appear once background processing finishes. If a fresh upload is not searchable yet, that is usually just indexing catching up.
  • Plan availability: instant frame scrubbing and scene insights (shot search) are on Team and up; audio transcription is on Business and up. See the pricing page for details.
  • Transcription captures the spoken language, it does not translate it, and accuracy depends on the audio.
