API & MCP

Build custom workflows and connect your own agents to Playbook using our REST API and Model Context Protocol (MCP) support

For teams that want deeper, more tailored control over their Playbook workspace, Playbook offers a REST API and MCP integration — so developers and power users can automate workflows, query assets programmatically, and wire up AI agents directly to their storage.

How to get started: In the left sidebar of a Business plan workspace, click the Developer tab and request your API token.

REST API

The Playbook REST API is available on Business plans and above and gives developers full programmatic access to their workspace.

You can use the API to build custom integrations, automate asset management, sync Playbook with internal tools, or pull data into your own dashboards and pipelines.

MCP (Model Context Protocol)

Playbook supports MCP, which means you can connect your own AI agents, or tools like Claude, Cursor, and others, directly to your Playbook workspace to perform actions on your behalf.

What your agents can do:

  • Read organizations and assets
  • AI-powered search across your workspace
  • Update, move, and delete assets
  • Create, update, delete, and share boards

This makes it possible to build workflows where an AI agent can autonomously organize uploads, surface relevant files, or manage boards based on prompts or triggers you define.
